As an oncologist, I have no idea how often this is done. But its just another symptom of cancerphobia which we will address in next week's post that discusses MCEDs (multicancer early detection tests).
Fascinating history of the introduction of screening for certain cancers in the U.S., Mike. You're a great writer able to simplify complex topics! The diagnostic odyssey is something we are concerned about from the impact on the patient experience and the patient's wallet. Hopefully you can address this a bit more in the next chapter.
